Not much, they all clean your hair and body. Do you use a shower gel on top of the shampoo in the shower? Mostly not I suspect. The shampoo cleans the rest of you just as well as your hair. Does it work the other way round? Does shower gel clean your hair? Does soap clean your hair? Yes they do. Shampoo and shower gels are essentially just liquid soaps. You can use soap as shampoo, you can shower with a shampoo bar.
But, but… are shampoo bars good for my hair?
I’ve used my shampoo shower soap bars for nearly 3 years now. I have noticed no difference. There is a great programme on Radio 4 called Sliced Bread, looking at shampoos and mentioning soap bars. Essentially they find that any shampoo or shampoo bar cleans your hair. If you want lusher, more beautiful hair you need to look at conditioners.
