The Travel Set

When I used to hitch around Europe in those far off days in another century (end of 1970s and early 1980s) we used to travel with a bar of soap in a soap box, a flannel (or two), toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush and nail clippers/scissors for all things related to personal grooming. And of cause a towel (see ‘Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy’ by Douglas Adams for more travel related towel advice).

My travel set contains 2 handknitted small flannels, a soap tray (to let the soap dry after use), a square picture shampoo shower soap (but I will do my regular shampoo shower soaps to fit- coming soon), all in a neat tin with a window lid so you can admire the picture, even when to tin is closed.

They make lovely presents while actually being useful.

How to put it all together:

All travel set items including 2 mini flannels, picture shampoo soap tray and tin

Step 1:

Select your 2 mini flannels, your picture soap and add tray and tin.

Step 2:

Put the first flannel in the tin folded into a small square.

Soap tray in tin on top of flannel. 2nd flannel and soap still outside.

Step3:

Add the soap tray. The soap tray needs to be be really wedged in. This can be a bit fiddly. If it doesn’t seem to fit turn it by by 90 degree or upside down and try again.

Step 4:

Add the second flannel on top of the soap tray.

Tin nearly full but you can only see the top of the 2nd flannel. Shampoo soap is still outside

Step 5:

Put the picture shampoo soap of your choice on top of all the rest.

Step 6:

Put the lid on it.

Step 7:

Take it away.
