If you want o know what is in my soap or any cosmetic on the market, all you have to do is read the label. …. Ha!…. . Here is one of mine:

What a lot of nonsense! Yes, this is the legally required cosmetic labelling with INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) names. It’s in order of largest to smallest ingredient. You can translate this by looking it up on the internet. But here is a general guidance:
- Sodium ********: sodium indicates fat turned to soap, the fat is what follows, so Oliviate is Olive, Cocoate is coconut, Mangoseedate is mango seed etc.
- Aqua= water
- Items ending in Oil are the essential oils
- Triticum Vulgare Germ Oil= Vitamin E Oil
- The weird names at the end are allergens. There are 26 that need listing if present. In this case it’s Farnesol, Geraniol, Limonene and Linalool. People that need to avoid those will know. They are found in the essential or fragrance oils.
- Perfum= fragrance oil. The exact ingredients are usually a trade secret of the supplier. I only use two fragrance oils and none in my basic soaps
