Never say that reading old crime novels isn’t relevant to today or your business. Here is what I read in ‘The Groote Park Murder’ by Freeman Wills Crofts:
He forgot to soap his socks.
This was supposed to be blister protection: Put soap inside your socks. When your feet sweat, it mixes with the soap to create a lather that protects the skin on your feet.
No idea whether this works but the escaping criminal in this novel certainly got slowed down by the blisters he suffered because of his carelessness and soaplessness.
Maybe this advice should go into my travel set instructions.
